The Division of Pediatric Emergency Medicine staffs the emergency departments of Children's Healthcare of Atlanta at both Egleston and Hughes Spalding. Egleston is a tertiary/ quartenary care, level 1 trauma facility and ECMO referral center that caters to over 50,000 emergency department visits per year and is located across the street from Emory University. Hughes Spalding is a community hospital that receives over 50,000 visits to its emergency department and is located in downtown Atlanta, across the street from Grady Memorial Hospital. These two facilities serve as the main sites for education and training of residents and medical students from Emory University School of Medicine and Morehouse School of Medicine.
Aside from emergency care, our physicians also staff a dedicated sedation service 5 days/week. This service is a joint venture of the Divisions of Critical Care Medicine and Pediatric Emergency Medicine. Service lines supported include radiology, surgery and oncology at the AFLAC cancer center. Some of our physicians also serve as hospitalists, while others support the Pain Service, Children's Healthcare of Atlanta Call Center and the transfer center. Our physicians are active on committees and we have representation on all the major hospital and university committees such as the Medical Executive, Peer Review, Ethics and Clinical Research committees.
