Welcome to the Division of Infectious Diseases in the Department of Pediatrics at Emory University.

Our primary mission is to contribute to the prevention and treatment of infectious diseases that harm or kill children.

We will do this by addressing the following mission areas:

  • Basic Research:   We will attack the basic research questions in infectious disease in ways that contribute fundamental new knowledge relevant to a variety of disciplines.
  • Clinical/translational research:   We will contribute in a substantial manner to the treatment and prevention of infectious diseases in children.
  • Patient care:   We will enhance the healthcare of the children of Atlanta and the southeast by providing outstanding direct patient care, consultation services, and infection control practices.
  • Education:   We will train future generations of leaders in basic and translational biomedical research relevant to infectious diseases.
  • Child Advocacy:   We will advocate for the health of children locally, nationally, and globally.

In order to help not only the children in Georgia, but also those throughout the world, the Emory Pediatric Infectious Diseases Division has gathered some of the nation’s leading specialists in a multi-disciplinary program dedicated to breakthrough research.
