Overview
The Emory Children’s Center Division of Pulmonary Medicine has a premier Clinical Research Program in Asthma directed by W. Gerald Teague,
M.D., Professor of Pediatrics at Emory School of Medicine. Dr. Teague has a strong national presence in pediatric asthma and severe asthma
care and research. Dr. Teague and his research team are tackling the serious issues that affect children with asthma.
At this time Dr. Teague and his team are involved in two prestigious national research collaboratives dedicated to the study of asthma. One
is sponsored by the National Institutes of Health, and is the Severe Asthma Research Program (SARP). The purpose of SARP is to discover
why certain individuals with asthma have severe symptoms despite treatment with appropriate medications. The second collaborative is the
American Lung Association’s Asthma Clinical Research Centers (ACRC) network. The goal of ACRC is to conduct clinical trials of new treatments
which will greatly impact the impact of asthma.
