Share Your Story
Emory-Children's Center and the Department of Pediatrics have touched the lives of many children and their
families through outstanding research and compassionate care. By sharing your story, you may inspire
families facing similar challenges.
Simply click on the Share Your Story link and complete the electronic form. Please review the story
guidelines and FAQs below before you get started.

Story Guidelines
- Please provide some basic information about yourself: your name, address, phone
or email and relationship to the patient.
- Next, provide more detailed information about your story: name of physician, location of
treatment and patient name, age and diagnosis (if applicable). You can also attach a photo with your
story. This information will help us archive your story.
- Now, you can begin writing your story! You can use a maximum of 2000 characters.
*If you would like to take some more time to reflect on your story as well as edit and review
it, we suggest you write your story in a Word document outside of the web site, then copy
and paste your story in the box providered.
- To be posted on our web site, your story must be respectful and cannot
contain any of the following:
- Potentially libelous statements.
- Obscene, explicit, or racist language.
- Personal attacks, insults, or threats.
- Commercial product promotions.
- Information taken from another source without permission.
- Private, personal information relayed by a third party without the patient's/ family's consent.
Examples: first and last name of patient, any health information that can identify the patient.
- Comments unrelated to the subject/spirit of the web site.
- Hyperlinks to material that is not directly related to the discussion.
You will be notified if you story is disqualified for these or any other reasons.

What is Emory's purpose/goal in sharing patient stories? |

Emory would like to create an archive of online information where families can seek and share hope
and support, our employees can build camaraderie amongst patients and inspire each other to perform
better each day, and the general public can learn about the amazing work done at Emory-Children's
Center and the Department of Pediatrics.

What types of stories will appear on the website? |
| A: |
We are interested in all kinds of reflections about experiences at the ECC and the Department of
Pediatrics. This is the place where you can share your thoughts with others. Stories can come
from volunteers, family members who would like to honor the memory of
a lost loved one, family members who would like to share inspirational recovery stories, and
others who have been cared for here.

Can I remain anonymous? |

Simply check the "would like to remain anonymous" box on the form. When writing your story,
use only your first name or you can make up a name. You may also want to write in broad, general
terms to avoid any direct link to your personal experience. We would like to have your real name
and contact information only for purposes of contacting you.

Can I mail in my story? |
| A: |
We want to make sure everyone has an equal opportunity to share their story. Mail handwritten
stories to: Emory Department of Pediatrics, Office of Development, 2015 Uppergate
Drive, Atlanta, Georgia, 30322.

How long will my story remain on the web site? |
| A: |
There will be a link to your story on the site for approximately one year, after then, your story
will be archived and can be accessed per request. |
