Faculty Development

Process for Annual Faculty Reviews

The Department of Pediatrics uses the standardized process of the Emory University School of Medicine for annual faculty reviews to stimulate and support individual career development. The System is called the Career Development Conference Report. This system empowers faculty members to set clearly defined career goals, to document their progress, and to establish an understanding with their division/program directors as to resources that will be provided to support them and results that will be expected of them.

The timeline for this process each year is:

  • October 1
    • Each faculty member submits the completed CDCR to her/his division director (Part I) and makes an appointment to review it together (the "Career Development Conference")

  • November 30
    • Division Director completes interviews with each division faculty member and finishes each evaluation (Part II)

  • December 15
    • Faculty members add any last comments and finalize the document (Part III). The Department Chair is automatically notified that the document is ready for review.

  • December 31
    • All Division Director and Program Director evaluations completed by Chair; Division and Department summary reports submitted by the Chair to the Dean's office.

Please contact Dr. J. Devn Cornish, Vice Chair for Faculty Development, or Janet Waidner, administrative assistant to the Chair, with any questions via email (jcornis@emory.edu) or at 404-727-2456.
