Emory University is a private institution founded in 1836. It has a student body of over 11,000 and a faculty of 2,500 which represent all 50 states and 90 foreign countries. The campus covers 630+ acres just 15 minutes from downtown Atlanta and includes nine schools and colleges.
The School of Medicine is one of the nation's finest teaching and research institutions and currently has more than 450 medical students, 950 residents and fellows, and 45 MD/PhD students in training. Faculty are responsible for the nearly 3,000 beds in 7 Emory-owned or affiliated hospitals and the more than 2 million patients who visit those institutions each year.
